Overview
The Dome Shield is a Heavy class thrown gadget that creates a spherical shield that absorbs incoming fire from opposing teams and deflects projectiles.
The Dome Shield is an exclusive gadget for Heavy Builds in which the user can throw down a spherical (omnidirectional) shield that allows them and their teammates to shoot through it while blocking enemy fire. The Dome Shield is not to be confused with the Heavy specialization the Mesh Shield, which is monodirectional.
Uses & Interactions
The Dome Shield is useful for protecting a team by providing cover from enemy fire and allowing allies to safely return fire while shielded. The shield blocks all gunfire and projectiles from enemy contestants, no matter what side of the shield that they are on.

However, once thrown, the shield cannot be picked up or moved, so players may be left without cover if they move out of its area of effect. The Dome Shield also has a long cooldown, meaning that the user must think carefully before placing it.
Usage
The Dome Shield can be selected as one of three gadgets of any Heavy build loadout.

Holding the primary trigger will prepare a high-velocity overhand throw. Holding the secondary trigger will prepare a low-velocity underhand throw. While preparing a throw, the gadget's trajectory is indicated up to the point where it triggers on impact. Releasing the trigger will execute the throw, whereas swapping to a different item will cancel it.

The Dome Shield is a Heavy class thrown gadget that creates a spherical shield that absorbs incoming fire from opposing teams and deflects projectiles.

The Dome Shield can be deployed by throwing it. On its first impact, a large spherical shield is projected from the gadget. As with the Anti-Gravity Cube, the area of effect moves with the gadget.

The shield can be moved through, but it blocks incoming fire from opposing teams and deflects projectiles to create a safe zone in an around the Dome Shield. It also blocks explosion damage.

The Dome Shield will be destroyed if it takes too much damage. Additionally, the dome grenade in the center of the sphere has a much smaller amount of health and can be destroyed separately by any contestant, causing the shield to disappear as well.

Gadget

Grenade — Can be thrown like a grenade, meaning overhand or underhand. The trajectory and impact point are shown as an indicator.

Single Charge — Can be used once, then recharges automatically over the cooldown time.

Not Retrievable — Cannot be picked up after being deployed.

Projectile

Projectile — Gets affected by gravity and has a travel time.

Bounce — Bounces away when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant.

Trigger on Impact — Can fly for any amount of time and triggers when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant.

Interceptible — Can be removed by the APS Turret, nullifying its effects. This causes the turret to lose some health.

Destructible — The projectile can be destroyed, which also deletes the surrounding shield. Can be destroyed by teammates.

Glitchable — Can be temporarily disabled by a Glitch Grenade or Glitch Barrel.

Reshapeable — Can be reshaped by the Data Reshaper into a piece of decor by opponents.

Not Damaging — Hitting a contestant directly with the projectile does not deal damage.

Not Permanent — Disappears by itself after enough time has passed.

Shield

Blocking — Absorbs damage from enemy bullets, deflects projectiles and blocks explosions.

Destructible — Can be destroyed if its health is fully depleted, such as through hits from bullets or explosions. Cannot be damaged by teammates.

Glitchable — In the Dome Shield's case, a Glitch Grenade or Glitch Barrel will trigger upon contact with the shield to destroy it.

Usable by Opponents — Can be used by opponents to their advantage if there is a third team, as the Dome Shield will shield them from that team.

Non-Solid — Contestants can pass through.

Strengths

 • The Dome Shield can protect the user and/or their team while attempting to steal a Cashout.

Weaknesses

 • A Glitch Grenade or Glitch Barrel can instantly break a Dome Shield upon making contact.
 • Since the Dome Shield cannot be picked up or moved, a poorly positioned Dome Shield may not provide much benefit or even bait teammates into holding a disadvantageous location.

Tactics

 • Walking out of the Dome Shield when an opponent enters it and back in if they leave ensures that opponents need to take down the entire health of the Dome Shield before being able to hit the user.
 • The Dome Shield can reveal the position from which an opponent was firing.

Item mastery XP can be earned by deploying the Dome Shield and by blocking incoming damage with it.

Each time a certain XP threshold is reached, the item levels up. This does not improve the item, but rewards a unique item customization.
