The Smoke Grenade is a Light class thrown gadget that creates a cloud of smoke to block vision in an area.

Effects

The Smoke Grenade can be deployed by throwing it. The first time it impacts on a surface or contestant, it bounces away. On its second impact, it triggers to create a cloud of smoke that blocks vision in the area.

If the smoke cloud is near an active fire, the fire will be put out by the smoke.

Usage

The Smoke Grenade can be selected as one of three gadgets of any Light build loadout.

Holding the primary trigger will prepare a high-velocity overhand throw. Holding the secondary trigger will prepare a low-velocity underhand throw. While preparing a throw, the gadget's trajectory is indicated up to the point where it bounces off a surface. Swapping to a different item will cancel the throw. Releasing the trigger throws the gadget.

Properties

Gadget

Grenade — Can be thrown like a grenade, meaning overhand or underhand. The trajectory and impact point are shown as an indicator.

Multiple Charges — Can be used 3 times. When a charge is used, it automatically recharges over the cooldown time.

Projectile

Projectile — Gets affected by gravity and has a travel time.

Bounce — Bounces away when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant. For the Smoke Grenade, this happens exactly once.

Trigger on Impact — Can fly for any amount of time and triggers when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant. For the Smoke Grenade, this happens only on the second impact.

Interceptible — Can be removed by the APS Turret, nullifying its effects. This causes the turret to lose some health.

Not Damaging — Hitting a contestant directly with the projectile does not deal damage.

Not Destructible — Cannot be destroyed by receiving damage such as from bullets or explosions.

Smoke

Usable by Opponents — Can be used by opponents to their advantage.

Visibility — Affects the line of sight of the user and/or opponents. The smoke cloud blocks vision.

Not Attached — Does not attach to a surface upon deployment. The smoke cloud will remain stationary.

Not Damaging — Does not inflict damage.

Strategy

Strengths

  • The Smoke Grenade can provide cover when needed such as when stealing a Cashout or when reviving a teammate.
  • The Smoke Grenade puts out fires in the surrounding area.

Item Mastery

Item mastery XP for the Smoke Grenade can be earned solely by deploying it.

Each time a certain XP threshold is reached, the item levels up. This does not improve the item, but rewards a unique item customization.
