Cooldown20s

The Goo Grenade is a Light, Medium and Heavy class thrown gadget that creates a wall of goo at any location.

Usage

The Goo Grenade can be selected as one of three gadgets of any Light, Medium or Heavy build loadout.

Holding the primary trigger will prepare a high-velocity overhand throw. Holding the secondary trigger will prepare a low-velocity underhand throw. While preparing a throw, the gadget's trajectory is indicated up to the point where it triggers on impact. Releasing the trigger will execute the throw, whereas swapping to a different item will cancel it.

Stats

Effects

The Goo Grenade can be deployed by throwing it. The moment it impacts on a surface or contestant, it releases goo that instantly expands into a wall. The direction that the wall expands into depends on where it was thrown (see Mechanics).

The goo can be damaged by opponents and teammates to destroy it. The created goo is also highly flammable. A nearby fire will quickly spread to all of the goo and destroy it after a few seconds.

Properties

Gadget

Grenade — Can be thrown like a grenade, meaning overhand or underhand. The trajectory and impact point are shown as an indicator.

Multiple Charges — Can be used 2 times. When a charge is used, it automatically recharges over the cooldown time.

Projectile

Projectile — Gets affected by gravity and has a travel time.

Trigger on Impact — Can fly for any amount of time and triggers when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant. Contestants are treated like walls.

Interceptible — Can be removed by the APS Turret, nullifying its effects. This causes the turret to lose some health.

Reshapeable — Can be reshaped by the Data Reshaper into a piece of decor by opponents.

Not Damaging — Hitting a contestant directly with the projectile does not deal damage.

Goo

Attached — Attaches to a surface upon deployment. Sticks to the surface even if it moves. Weighs down any carriable object it is attached to.

Solid — Has its own collision, meaning it blocks bullets and contestants can stand on it.

Destructible — Can be destroyed if its health is fully depleted, such as through hits from bullets or explosions. Teammates can also destroy it.

Usable by Opponents — Can be used by opponents to their advantage.

Not Reshapeable — Cannot be reshaped by the Data Reshaper.

Not Permanent — Disappears by itself after enough time has passed.

Guide

Strengths

  • The Goo Grenade can be deployed to quickly take cover from (unexpected) incoming fire.
    • However, it takes a few moments to prime the grenade. It is faster to take cover using a Goo Barrel or Barricade, which deploy near-instantly.

Weaknesses

  • Fire will easily get rid of goo.

Tactics

  • The Goo Grenade can be used to create pathways, such as by throwing it at a wall to create a platform. This method can even be used to create a hiding spot outside of a building.

Placement

  • If the Goo Grenade is thrown at the ground, it will expand perpendicularly to the direction in which it was thrown, usually meaning perpendicular to the direction the user is facing. If the Goo Grenade is thrown at a wall, it will expand perpendicularly to the wall.

Item Mastery

Item mastery XP can be earned by deploying the Goo Grenade and by blocking incoming damage with its goo.

Each time a certain XP threshold is reached, the item levels up. This does not improve the item, but rewards a unique item customization.
