OVERVIEW

The Riot Shield is the exclusive melee option of the Medium combining a bulletproof ballistic shield and a riot baton. Whilst guarding with the shield, the wielder is entirely protected from enemy fire to the front.

PROS AND CONS

The Riot Shield is unfortunately in a very poor state in the current FINALS meta, with a narrow field of ballistic protection, a slow weak melee that exposes the wielder to fire, a build that does not offer beneficial abilities or equipment to synergize with the shield, and a shield that lacks protection against other melee weapons and explosives. The riot shield... sucks.

A riot shield user may find specific niches for their weapon to excel, but these opportunities will be limited. The utility lost from other weapons almost always outweighs the utility gained with the riot shield. Despite these faults, if you stay very close with your team and have good communication, you may find success with the riot shield. With the potential to act as mobile cover for your teammates, as a distraction for enemy teams, or to assist in only the most close range of encounters. While not advised, with some practice, you may find success with this weapon.

It is the opinion of current wiki editors, that In the current meta (CB 2023) the Riot Shield is considered the least viable melee option of all builds.
