The APS Turret is a gadget available to the Medium Build that destroys any projectiles within its vicinity.

Overview

The APS Turret can be placed down by contestants and will destroy any projectiles that enter its range. Once deployed, the APS Turret will remain in place until it has been destroyed by other players or picked up by the user.

Uses & Interactions

The APS Turret can protect players and their team from enemy explosives, as it can be placed on the ground and left in place until it is destroyed. It is also great when paired with a teammates Guardian Turret as it can defend the turret from getting damaged by throwables.

However, the APS Turret has a limited range, so it may not be effective against enemies who are attacking from a distance and using throwables outside of it's vicinity. Also, the turret loses 40% health for every projectile consumed and will eventually destroyed. Overall, the APS Turret is a powerful defensive tool, but it requires strategic placement and use to be effective in combat. Thrown barrels are not affected by the APS.

Counter-Play

Most guns can easily shoot enemy APS Turrets down if the player has direct line-of-sight, given the turret's small health pool.

However, the APS Turret can be especially difficult to deal with for grenade launcher users (CL-40 and MGL32) and melee weapons users with ranged utility (grenades, RPG-7, etc.). For these situations and other difficulties, the following strategies can be employed:

All Classes

With Patch 2.10.0 the turret takes damage after each consumed projectile, so it is possible to simply flood the turret with various projectiles such as grenades, RPGs and grenade launchers (CL-40 and MGL32). To completely destroy a turret it is enough to fire 3 projectiles into it's range. However, in the case of a direct engagement, the opponent can still be at an advantage if you use a grenade launcher.

The APS Turret does not affect thrown barrels, so these can be used to deal with it from range. The Glitch Barrel added in Patch 2.8.0 can be used as a direct counter, since it can be thrown straight at the APS Turret without regard for its effective radius.

Medium

A Glitch Trap can be placed and manually detonated 1-2 meters outside of the maximum APS radius and within the turret's line-of-sight to disable it. Additionally, mediums can use the Data Reshaper from up to 15 meters away to remove it with line-of-sight, or the Dematerializer can be used on a floor-placed turret to drop it through the floor. The CL-40 grenade launcher can also be a great option to destroy a turret with just 3 shots in its range.

Light

A well-placed Glitch Grenade 1-2 meters outside of the maximum APS radius (within direct line-of-sight) can disable an APS Turret. Since this grenade has a timed fuse and a tendency to roll somewhat, try to aim slightly short of the intended landing zone if up close. Generally speaking, it is best to aim for the left or right side of the APS Turret to avoid having the Glitch Grenade roll into the APS radius.

Heavy

MGL32 grenade launcher, due to its large magazine, can destroy an APS turret with 3 shots in its range, and the ammo will be enough to continue firing at the enemy.
